Strength of Materials

If we look around us we see tall buildings, long bridges, and unimaginable structures. Did it ever occur to you how all of this is reliable?

That’s where the strength of the materials come into the picture. Because of the strength of a material, we rely on those structures and live in those tall buildings and drive on those long bridges.

 

The aim of Strength of material:  To derive an expression for deformation, stress, strain developed under differential loading conditions by using experimentally determined processes.

 

The aim of design: To develop a design using strength of material with appropriate manufacturing processes in such a way that component perform its functionality without any failure.
